The 5th Annual Social Impact Conference - Agents of Change - Shaping a Sustainable Future 13th April 2023 9am - 6pm London Business School, 26 Sussex Place, North Building, NW14SA
I am delighted to have been asked to include my "Regeneration" original painting at a curated digital art exhibition at the London School of Business during their 5th annual Social Impact Conference. My passion for the natural environment and landscape was nurtured by studying and later teaching geography. Accumulated travel experiences (especially in Iceland) have afforded me a sense of place and my paintings are inspired by landscapes and places and, in particular, volcanic environments. As climate change causes the widespread warming of our land, oceans and atmosphere it also has the potential to increase volcanic activity, affect the size of eruptions, and alter the cooling effect that follows volcanic eruptions. Scientists (studying Iceland) have noted that volcanic eruptions tended to increase as glaciers melted concluding that as glaciers retreat magma flow is affected, pressure lifts and volcanic activity surges. Yet there is hope, as lichens establish on the new mineral rich volcanic surfaces and eventually forests can regenerate.
